Founding Electrical Engineer
About this role
Join a Y Combinator-backed wearable startup as the founding electrical engineer, owning the complete electrical design and manufacturing handoff for a consumer biometric device already in user hands. You'll lead rapid hardware iterations from prototype through production while collaborating with an experienced founding team and scaling into an engineering leadership role.
What you'll do
- Own end-to-end PCB design including schematic capture, layout, and manufacturing handoff
- Drive hardware revision cycles from prototype through increasingly refined production builds
- Lead bring-up, testing, validation, DFM/DFT processes for each hardware revision
- Coordinate directly with suppliers and contract manufacturers for prototyping and volume production
- Manage mixed-signal design, power management, signal integrity, and EMI/EMC for wearable form factors
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, ML, and industrial design teams on aggressive milestones

- PCB design tools (Altium, OrCAD, Eagle)
- Hardware bring-up, testing, and validation
- DFM/DFT process knowledge
- Analog and digital mixed-signal design
- Power management and signal integrity
- EMI/EMC in wearable constraints
- Supplier and CM coordination
- Bluetooth/wireless wearable experience (nice-to-have)
