About this role

Join a Y Combinator–backed humanoid robotics startup as a core engineer on a three-person team building AI-powered social software for humanoid robots. You'll develop autonomy systems, 3D perception pipelines, and locomotion software for real-world customer deployments while collaborating directly with robot manufacturers on hardware design.

What you'll do

  • Develop and deploy autonomy software for humanoid robots in production customer environments
  • Implement camera-based 3D perception systems including object detection, gesture recognition, and body language understanding
  • Advise robot manufacturers on sensor placement, hardware interfaces, and operational design
  • Improve locomotion systems for safe navigation in public and unstructured environments
  • Write and maintain C++20 onboard and Python 3.14 offboard code on custom hardware platforms
  • Collaborate with animators to refine robot movement, gestures, and natural behavioral expression

What they're looking for

  • C++20 or Rust
  • Robotics systems engineering and autonomous systems

  • Hardware debugging and physical system integration
  • Real-world robotics deployment and iteration
  • Python for offboard software
  • Humanoid or mobile robot platforms (Unitree G1 or equivalent)
  • Sensor interfacing and hardware design consultation
