Clera
Founding Engineer - Agentic
About this role
Join a seed-stage workforce marketplace as a Founding Engineer to architect and own the entire agent layer from scratch. You'll work directly with the CTO to establish foundational patterns for how agents are built, evaluated, and improved across the platform, working on production systems with real-world impact.
What you'll do
- Own the complete agent layer including context engineering, self-learning systems, evals, agent harness, and meta-harness architecture
- Design and implement self-healing workflows that enable agents to detect, diagnose, and autonomously recover from production failures
- Build a compounding knowledge base system so each new agent integration becomes faster and more effective than the last
- Create and maintain tools that allow the team to build, evaluate, and iterate on new agents within days
- Establish engineering patterns and best practices that all future agents on the platform will follow
- Contribute to hiring and growing the agentic engineering team as the company scales
What they're looking for
- Agentic software architecture and design patterns
- Context engineering and self-learning systems
- Agent tracing, evaluations, and eval-driven development
- TypeScript and PostgreSQL
- LLMs and agent frameworks
- Production systems reliability and self-healing workflows
- Rapid prototyping and shipping production-ready code
- Early-stage startup experience and scrappy problem-solving
Benefits
- Founding-level equity and impact at seed stage
- Direct collaboration with CTO and founding team
- Opportunity to define architecture in an unsolved domain
- Visa sponsorship available for O-1 visa candidates
- Five-day on-site work environment in San Francisco
- Relocation support for candidates from elsewhere in the US
