Founding Engineer
About this role
Join as a Founding Engineer to build an AI system that accelerates hardware engineering for defense and medical device companies. You'll own full technical execution—from architecture to production—integrating AI agents with CAD/CAE/PLM tools while working directly with the CTO and deploying into live customer programs.
What you'll do
- Design and build core system architecture integrating AI agents with CAD, CAE, PLM tools, and customer technical history under strict security requirements
- Own end-to-end engineering: architecture decisions, production delivery, reliability, observability, testing, and on-call operations
- Ship first production AI workflow into live customer program used weekly by working engineers
- Build evaluation and training loops incorporating simulation runs, test data, engineer corrections, and reinforcement learning grounded in real physics
- Visit customer sites to understand real-world failures and translate learnings into platform capabilities
- Expand platform across multiple operating companies and mentor the growing engineering team

- Python backend and ML systems engineering for production AI
- LLM agent workflow design and production deployment
- System architecture for agent orchestration and tool integration
- Production delivery: observability, evaluation suites, regression testing, on-call operations
- AI model feedback loops and evaluation system design
- Strong communication with engineers and customers
- Reinforcement learning or fine-tuning (nice to have)
- CAD/CAE/PLM or domain-specific engineering software (nice to have)
