About this role

Join a Y Combinator-backed EdTech startup as a Founding Full-Stack Engineer to build a science-backed video language-learning platform. You'll work in-person with founders in San Francisco, own large portions of the codebase across mobile, web, backend, and AI, and directly shape the product and engineering culture from the ground up.

What you'll do

  • Ship end-to-end product features from backend logic through UI to production deployment
  • Build high-performance mobile experiences using React Native and Expo
  • Develop and maintain backend services in Go with PostgreSQL data modeling and optimization
  • Implement video streaming pipelines and HLS infrastructure
  • Build AI-driven learning experiences leveraging LLMs and audio/video models
  • Improve developer tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and system observability

  • Go (Golang) backend development with PostgreSQL
  • React Native and Expo mobile development
  • TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and REST APIs
  • Compiled languages (Swift, Kotlin, C++, Java, or C#)
  • Testing practices (unit, integration, end-to-end)
  • Video streaming technologies (HLS) and AI/LLM integration
  • Debugging tools (Chrome DevTools, React Native Profiler, Xcode Instruments)
  • Unix/Linux systems, Git, and terminal workflows
