Clera
Frontend Engineer — Cluster OS
About this role
Join an early-stage AI infrastructure startup as a Frontend Engineer to design and build the user interface for a Kubernetes-based cluster operating system. You'll own end-to-end features including provisioning flows, real-time visualizations, and natural language interfaces, working closely with backend teams to make complex distributed systems intuitive.
What you'll do
- Own the cluster OS UI end-to-end, including provisioning flows and real-time system insights
- Design and build visualization systems that surface distributed cluster state clearly and intuitively
- Integrate with Kubernetes APIs, GitOps controllers, and gRPC backends to expose relevant information
- Build real-time reactive UIs using Convex that scale from individual users to production teams
- Prototype new interaction patterns for infrastructure management and iterate based on feedback
- Collaborate with backend teams to co-design frontend-friendly protocols and establish architecture patterns
What they're looking for
- React and Next.js
- Tailwind CSS and shadcn/ui
- Kubernetes internals (CRDs, operators, cluster architecture, etcd)
- Go for system-level tooling and distributed systems
- Terraform and Helm for Infrastructure as Code
- GitOps workflows with ArgoCD
- Prometheus and Grafana for observability
- Real-time state management and complex data visualization
Benefits
- Significant ownership and influence on product direction in an early-stage team
- Work on hard infrastructure problems with tangible impact
- Opportunity to shape foundational frontend architecture and best practices
- Collaborative environment with product, design, and backend teams
- Full-time, on-site position in San Francisco
