SpaceX

EDA Engineer (RFIC Engineering)

Redmond, WA$125k–$150kmidAdded today

About this role

SpaceX seeks an EDA Engineer to support and optimize the IC design environment for RFIC and silicon teams working on Starlink. You'll maintain EDA tool reliability, improve design flows for analog/RF/mixed-signal and digital workflows, and partner with design and IT teams to solve production issues and build sustainable automation.

What you'll do

  • Support daily EDA/CAD workflows including tool setup, PDK deployment, simulation, physical verification, and Linux environments for RFIC and silicon teams
  • Troubleshoot DRC, LVS, PEX, simulation, EM, license, and HPC issues using reproducible debugging practices
  • Develop and maintain tool launch scripts, environment modules, setup documentation, and onboarding materials
  • Build lightweight automation using Python, Tcl, SKILL, shell, or similar languages to reduce recurring issues and improve designer productivity
  • Create and execute QA tests for PDK updates, tool upgrades, and vendor patches before broad deployment
  • Convert one-off support issues into durable flow improvements, documentation, and methodology enhancements across design teams

What they're looking for

  • EDA/CAD tool support and IC design flows
  • Linux administration and scripting (Python, Tcl, SKILL, shell, Perl)
  • Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre, and analog/RF/mixed-signal design tools
  • Physical verification tools (Calibre, ICV, Pegasus) and DRC/LVS/PEX
  • PDK installation, qualification, and deployment
  • Problem triage and technical debugging
  • Configuration management and version control systems
  • HPC job submission and license management

Likely interview questions

  • Describe your experience supporting EDA flows and tools—which specific tools have you worked with and what issues did you typically debug?
  • Walk us through how you'd approach triaging a designer-reported DRC/LVS failure; what information would you gather first?
