Clera
Mechanical Engineer
About this role
A venture-backed robotics startup is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and own electro-mechanical systems for autonomous ground robots built to survive extreme environments. You'll drive the full product lifecycle from concept through field deployment, working closely with a small team of aerospace and defense engineers on harsh-condition platforms for emergency response and industrial operations.
What you'll do
- Own electro-mechanical systems end-to-end, from concept through production and deployment
- Design innovative solutions using 3D CAD (SolidWorks) and conduct strength/reliability analyses (ANSYS)
- Lead rapid prototyping, testing, and iteration to validate concepts and drive learnings
- Generate detailed assembly layouts and engineering drawings with GD&T annotations for manufacturing
- Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers on part producibility, quality, and assembly processes
- Perform root cause analysis on mechanical failures and execute testing plans in development and field settings
What they're looking for
- SolidWorks (3D CAD modeling)
- ANSYS (Finite Element Analysis)
- GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
- Robotics design and assembly
- Mechanical design for extreme environments (high-temperature, corrosive, water-heavy)
- Test fixture and jig design and fabrication
- Root cause analysis and failure investigation
- Cross-functional communication with engineering teams and end users
Benefits
- Visa sponsorship available
- Direct influence over fielded autonomous systems performance and robustness
- Collaborative environment with aerospace and defense engineering expertise
- Hands-on ownership of complex product lifecycle
