Clera
Mechanical Engineer
About this role
Design and develop mechanical systems for ground robots built to survive extreme environments including high heat, corrosion, and water exposure. You'll drive the full product lifecycle from concept through field deployment on a lean engineering team, balancing rapid iteration with rigorous analysis and testing.
What you'll do
- Own mechanical systems end-to-end, from early concept through production and field deployment
- Design solutions and create 3D CAD models using SolidWorks; conduct structural and reliability analyses with ANSYS
- Drive fast iteration through rapid prototyping, testing, and proof-of-concept validation
- Generate assembly layouts and detailed engineering drawings with GD&T annotations to industry standards
- Design and build test fixtures, jigs, and tooling; develop and execute testing plans and failure root cause analysis
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and manufacturers to ensure producibility and guide requirements
What they're looking for
- SolidWorks CAD design
- ANSYS finite element analysis
- Mechanical system design and integration
- GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
- Hands-on prototyping and hardware testing
- Robotics or autonomous systems experience
- Design for harsh/extreme environments
- Cross-functional communication and collaboration
Benefits
- Visa sponsorship available
- Hands-on impact on autonomous robotics technology
- Lean team environment with direct ownership
- Work on systems deployed in demanding real-world conditions

- Describe a mechanical system you designed and built from concept to production—what were the biggest challenges and how did you overcome them?
- Tell us about a time you had to iterate quickly on a design. How did you balance speed with thorough analysis?
