About this role

Code Metal seeks a Physics Programmer to architect and build the core C++ simulation runtime for a next-generation wargaming platform used by Department of Defense decision-making. You'll design entity-component systems, optimize performance under strict budgets, and integrate physics and behavior models into a large-scale interactive simulation engine.

What you'll do

  • Architect and implement the core C++ runtime for an interactive wargaming platform with hard performance constraints
  • Design and evolve entity-component-system architecture for representing large numbers of heterogeneous simulation entities
  • Build data-oriented component storage, entity lifecycle management, system queries, and dependency-aware scheduling
  • Develop multithreaded and task-based execution systems to safely parallelize simulation workloads
  • Profile and optimize memory layout, cache locality, and CPU utilization against explicit performance budgets
  • Lead architecture design reviews, mentor other programmers, and establish standards for C++ performance engineering
