About this role
Code Metal seeks a Simulation Engineer to design and build mission-critical defense simulations using C++ and Python. You'll develop discrete-event and agent-based simulation frameworks, physics models, and cloud-distributed evaluation environments that help the DoD explore force-design decisions before real-world commitment.
What you'll do
- Design and implement mission- and campaign-level simulations in C++ and Python with event scheduling, state management, and deterministic replay
- Build and extend discrete-event, agent-based, and constructive simulation frameworks, including platform abstractions and scenario execution pipelines
- Develop models for weapons, sensors, communications, electronic warfare, command & control, logistics, and environmental effects
- Create scenario-generation, Monte Carlo, sensitivity-analysis, and campaign-execution workflows with verification and validation practices
- Scale simulations across developer workstations, on-premises, and cloud infrastructure while maintaining reproducibility
- Collaborate with government, Air Force, and DoD stakeholders to translate operational requirements into maintainable software models
