About this role

Decagon seeks a Customer Engineer to lead end-to-end AI agent builds for enterprise clients, translating customer requirements into production-grade implementations. You'll design agentic logic, architect integrations, manage guardrails, and partner with technical stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable conversational AI solutions.

What you'll do

  • Own full lifecycle of AI agent builds from architecture and scoping through implementation, testing, and production deployment
  • Design and engineer core agentic logic, applying optimization principles to handle non-deterministic model outputs reliably
  • Build and validate guardrails and supervisory controls for safe, compliant agent performance in real-world scenarios
  • Architect integrations with customer systems (CRMs, data pipelines, ticketing systems) including APIs and deployment workflows
  • Interface with senior customer technical stakeholders to define success criteria and drive delivery against timelines
  • Debug failures through trace analysis and root-cause investigation; design evaluation frameworks to prevent performance drift
