Agentic AI & Graph Machine Learning Research Engineer
About this role
HRL Laboratories seeks a Research Engineer to advance agentic AI and graph machine learning technologies for autonomous systems and decision support. You'll design multi-agent architectures, build knowledge-enhanced AI systems integrating knowledge graphs and LLMs, and develop trustworthy AI solutions for defense and aerospace applications.
What you'll do
- Lead research in agentic AI, LLM-powered agent architectures, and autonomous workflows with memory, planning, and tool integration
- Design and evaluate multi-agent systems for distributed decision-making and long-horizon task execution in mission-critical domains
- Build knowledge-enhanced AI systems using knowledge graphs, GraphRAG, ontologies, and multimodal retrieval for improved reasoning
- Develop graph machine learning and representation learning techniques (GNNs, geometric deep learning) for pattern discovery and anomaly detection
- Create trustworthy AI systems with explainability, verification, robustness testing, and safety assessments
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, publish research, and support proposal development and stakeholder engagement

- AI interoperability standards (Model Context Protocol, Agent2Agent)
