About this role

Reflect Orbital seeks a GNC Engineer to develop guidance, navigation, and control systems for a novel space vehicle. You'll own 6-DOF simulation, design flight-ready attitude controllers, and collaborate with avionics teams to optimize orbital and attitude performance.

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain 6-DOF simulation for vehicle attitude, station-keeping, and orbital dynamics
  • Design and implement attitude control algorithms on flight-ready avionics hardware
  • Collaborate with avionics engineers on ADCS design and performance optimization
  • Analyze orbital mechanics, constellation designs, and trajectory/attitude profiles
  • Conduct verification and validation of GNC flight software using simulation and HITL testing
  • Support prototyping and controller implementation on prototype hardware

What they're looking for

  • 6-DOF dynamics modeling and simulation
  • Attitude determination and control systems (ADCS)
  • Orbital mechanics and propagation
  • Flight software implementation in C/C++ or similar
  • Control theory and controller design
  • Verification and validation (V&V) methodologies
  • HITL (hardware-in-the-loop) testing

Likely interview questions

  • Walk us through a GNC system you designed and owned end-to-end—what were the key challenges and how did you solve them?
  • Describe your experience building a 6-DOF simulation from scratch; what tools did you use and what best practices did you establish?
