Software Engineer - Cumberland/FICCO Tools Engineering

About this role

DRW seeks a Software Engineer to join the Cumberland/FICCO Tools Engineering team in Chicago, building high-performance trading systems for fixed income and options desks. You'll alternate between embedded deployments with trading teams to solve critical problems and platform work to scale solutions across the firm.

What you'll do

• Embed with trading desks to understand problems, extract domain models, and deliver specialized trading tools
• Own products end-to-end from prototype through stable production deployment
• Build and maintain the central trading platform supporting multiple asset classes
• Work across greenfield and legacy systems in Python, Java, C++, and TypeScript
• Extract reusable patterns from deployment work to create enterprise-wide tools
• Provide on-call support for trading systems as needed

• Python, Java, C++, TypeScript proficiency
• Production system delivery in fast-moving, ambiguous environments
• Linux-based, high-throughput, low-latency systems
• Direct customer/stakeholder collaboration and communication
• Problem decomposition and complexity minimization
• Financial markets experience (delta one, FICC options preferred)
• Functional programming (preferred)
• Concurrent systems design
