About this role

DRW's Network Capture Services team seeks a Systems Software Engineer to design, build, and operate the firm's mission-critical network packet capture platform. This hybrid software and infrastructure role involves C++/Python/Rust development, Ansible automation, server deployment, and rotating production support for a system relied on daily by trading and research teams.

What you'll do

  • Design, build, deploy, and validate network capture servers across infrastructure teams
  • Develop and maintain capture/query software in C++, Python, Rust, and Ruby with emphasis on testing and reliability
  • Build Ansible automation and configuration management for repeatable server provisioning
  • Participate in weekly production support rotation: troubleshooting live issues, incident response, and proactive monitoring
  • Improve automation, monitoring, and capacity planning; drive proposals to production
  • Onboard new capture deployments and serve as liaison between capture services and infrastructure teams

What they're looking for

  • C++ (primary), Python, Rust, or Ruby programming
  • DPDK or kernel-bypass packet processing (hugepages, CPU pinning, NUMA awareness)
  • Linux administration and production server troubleshooting
  • Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, switching, packet analysis)
  • Ansible or comparable configuration management
  • Server hardware specification, validation, and data center workflows
  • Git, CI/CD pipelines, and package management
  • Bash/Python/Ruby scripting and strong communication skills
