Systems Software Engineer
About this role
DRW's Network Capture Services team seeks a Systems Software Engineer to design, build, and operate the firm's mission-critical network packet capture platform. This hybrid software and infrastructure role involves C++/Python/Rust development, Ansible automation, server deployment, and rotating production support for a system relied on daily by trading and research teams.
What you'll do
- Design, build, deploy, and validate network capture servers across infrastructure teams
- Develop and maintain capture/query software in C++, Python, Rust, and Ruby with emphasis on testing and reliability
- Build Ansible automation and configuration management for repeatable server provisioning
- Participate in weekly production support rotation: troubleshooting live issues, incident response, and proactive monitoring
- Improve automation, monitoring, and capacity planning; drive proposals to production
- Onboard new capture deployments and serve as liaison between capture services and infrastructure teams

- C++ (primary), Python, Rust, or Ruby programming
- DPDK or kernel-bypass packet processing (hugepages, CPU pinning, NUMA awareness)
- Linux administration and production server troubleshooting
- Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, switching, packet analysis)
- Ansible or comparable configuration management
- Server hardware specification, validation, and data center workflows
- Git, CI/CD pipelines, and package management
- Bash/Python/Ruby scripting and strong communication skills
