Dyna Robotics

Fleet Reliability Engineer

Redwood City, CA$160k–$200kfulltimemidAdded 6 days ago

About this role

Dyna Robotics seeks a Fleet Reliability Engineer to diagnose and prevent hardware failures across its deployed humanoid robot fleet. You'll combine hands-on bench work—soldering, repair, mechanical design—with data analysis and telemetry infrastructure to catch degradation before it causes downtime.

What you'll do

  • Root-cause complex hardware and firmware failures across the fleet, from actuator dropouts to control-stack bugs
  • Perform hands-on bench testing, soldering, repair, and re-commissioning of suspect components and assemblies
  • Design and fabricate test fixtures, jigs, brackets, and mechanical modifications from concept through validation
  • Build fleet health metrics, maintenance indices, and alert rules to detect degradation before failure
  • Develop calibration tools, characterization sweeps, and pre-deployment validation harnesses for firmware and hardware
  • Extract, decode, and analyze robot telemetry logs to identify and resolve gaps in the monitoring pipeline

What they're looking for

  • Hands-on electronics repair and soldering
  • Python for data analysis, signal processing, and tooling
  • Actuator and motor control (QDD systems, encoders, CAN, torque telemetry)
  • Mechatronic failure analysis and root-cause diagnosis
  • Robot control fundamentals (impedance, force control, controller state)
  • Mechanical design reasoning and design-review participation
  • Time-series data analysis and alert threshold tuning
  • Technical documentation and runbook writing

Likely interview questions

  • Walk us through a time you diagnosed a failure that spanned hardware, firmware, and controls—how did you isolate the root cause?
  • Describe a repair or rework you've done on fielded equipment: what went wrong, how did you fix it, and how did you prevent recurrence?
