About this role

Figure, an AI robotics company in San Jose, seeks an experienced Test Development Engineer to design and own actuation testing infrastructure for humanoid robots. You'll develop scalable dynamometer systems using Speedgoat/Simulink Real-Time, integrate hardware (EtherCAT drives, motors, sensors), and characterize actuation subsystems from prototype through production.

What you'll do

  • Lead development and maintenance of automated, scalable actuation test systems across multiple deployed dynos
  • Build dyno software on Speedgoat/Simulink Real-Time with controls, HAL, data acquisition, calibration, and operator UI
  • Integrate and interface dyno hardware including EtherCAT drives, PM motors, torque cells, and precision encoders
  • Calibrate dynos, validate sensor accuracy, and troubleshoot full signal chains from sensor to controller
  • Execute structured test campaigns to characterize and stabilize system behavior before handoff to teams
  • Document integration processes, test plans, and validation results; mentor test engineers on actuation subsystems
