About this role

Flagship Pioneering seeks a UAS Systems Integration Engineer II to develop a production-grade fixed-wing UAV platform, working across firmware, avionics, airframe design, and C2 architecture. You'll own the autopilot stack, conduct flight test campaigns, and integrate payloads for precision scientific missions in demanding international environments.

What you'll do

  • Configure and tune ArduPlane autopilot firmware including PID tuning, failsafe logic, and mission scripting
  • Read, modify, and debug ArduPilot C++ source code to extend capabilities and resolve vehicle-level issues
  • Design and iterate on fixed-wing airframes optimizing for payload, endurance, and resilience
  • Support flight test operations with pre-flight checks, telemetry setup, troubleshooting, and rapid iteration cycles
  • Develop C2 link architecture, RF link budgets, and spectrum compliance for long-range BVLOS operations
  • Analyze flight logs and design custom ground station software for mission planning and post-flight analysis
