About this role

Fluidstack seeks an Environmental Engineer to lead civil and environmental engineering for large-scale data center site development, from initial assessment through permitting. You'll own stormwater design, environmental compliance, site screening, and coordination with consultants and regulators to deliver multi-GW campus infrastructure on aggressive timelines.

What you'll do

  • Own environmental and civil engineering for data center site development including stormwater, grading, drainage, erosion control, and environmental constraint analysis
  • Drive environmental permitting processes (SWPPP, construction stormwater, wetlands permits, land disturbance approvals) with regulatory agencies on accelerated schedules
  • Screen prospective sites for fatal flaws such as wetlands, floodplains, protected species habitat, and contamination before capital commitment
  • Manage and QA third-party civil and environmental consultants, ensuring deliverables meet permit readiness standards
  • Coordinate civil design (grading, utilities, roads, drainage) with structural and architectural teams to prevent rework during construction
  • Sequence environmental compliance activities to balance regulatory requirements with construction speed

What they're looking for

  • Environmental permitting (SWPPP, wetlands, waters permits, land disturbance)
  • Stormwater design and hydrology modeling
  • Site grading and drainage design
  • Regulatory coordination and agency relations
  • Civil 3D or similar design software
  • Third-party consultant management and QA
  • Land development risk assessment
  • PE license (civil or environmental preferred)
