About this role

Formlabs seeks an R&D Reliability/Test Engineer to ensure 3D printer robustness through validation testing, failure analysis, and test rig development. You'll design electro-mechanical test strategies, conduct root cause analyses, and collaborate with R&D teams to influence product reliability from conception through launch.

What you'll do

  • Develop and execute validation test plans at system, subsystem, and component levels to verify design and reliability requirements
  • Perform hands-on root cause analysis of electromechanical failures using physics-of-failure methodologies
  • Design, build, and automate testing equipment for subsystem characterization and environmental testing
  • Collaborate with R&D design teams on risk assessments, design reviews, and continuous testing throughout product development
  • Analyze field failure data to identify trends and develop corrective action plans
  • Translate complex test data into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders
