About this role

Formlabs seeks an R&D Reliability/Test Engineer to ensure 3D printer products meet robustness standards by developing validation test plans, conducting root cause analyses on field failures, and designing automated test rigs. You'll work cross-functionally with design teams to influence product reliability from conception through launch.

What you'll do

  • Develop and execute system, subsystem, and component-level validation test plans aligned with design and reliability requirements
  • Perform hands-on root cause analysis of electromechanical failures using physics-of-failure methodologies
  • Design, build, and implement automated testing equipment for subsystem characterization and environmental testing
  • Collaborate with R&D design teams on risk assessments, continuous testing, and design reviews to embed reliability early
  • Analyze field failure data to identify trends and develop corrective action plans based on business priority
