About this role

General Matter seeks a new-graduate chemical engineer or chemist to support the design and build-out of an advanced laboratory for uranium enrichment operations. You'll gain hands-on experience with mass spectrometry, analytical chemistry, and nuclear fuel cycle materials while working alongside experienced engineers in a mission-driven, fast-paced environment.

What you'll do

  • Conduct isotopic analysis and trace element detection using ICP-MS, TIMS, and SIMS instrumentation
  • Apply analytical chemistry techniques to monitor and ensure quality/safety of nuclear fuel materials
  • Develop and validate sample preparation, digestion, and separation methods for nuclear material analysis
  • Interpret mass spectrometry data and collaborate with process engineers to optimize facility operations
  • Maintain compliance with radiation protection, hazardous material handling, and chemical safety protocols
  • Support senior scientists on R&D projects to improve fuel cycle efficiency and reduce waste
