Glydways
Product Design / Studio Engineer
About this role
Glydways seeks a Product Design/Studio Engineer to bridge industrial design and mechanical engineering for their autonomous transit vehicles. You'll shepherd designs from concept through high-volume manufacturing, owning physical architecture, advanced CAD modeling, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver premium, manufacturable transit solutions.
What you'll do
- Champion design intent while ensuring mechanical viability and engineering rigor throughout the development process
- Develop Class-A surfaces and digital master models that translate industrial design into production-ready mechanical files
- Own physical vehicle architecture including component integration, packaging layouts, and tolerance management within stylized enclosures
- Lead rapid prototyping and validation using CNC, 3D printing, and custom fabrication to test ergonomics and aesthetics
- Design for high-volume manufacturability across injection molding, thermoforming, composites, sheet metal, and casting processes
- Collaborate with manufacturing vendors to maintain visual and cosmetic standards through tooling, validation, and assembly phases
What they're looking for
- Advanced 3D CAD surfacing (Siemens NX, Creo, or SolidWorks)
- GD&T and tolerance analysis expertise
- High-density mechanical component integration and packaging design
- Design for Manufacturing (DFM) across multiple production methods
- Rapid prototyping and proof-of-concept fabrication
- Cross-functional collaboration and technical communication
- Systems thinking and electro-mechanical architecture knowledge
- Automotive or consumer hardware product development experience
