About this role
Join Hatch's AI agents team to design and build production systems powering Voice and Text AI agents that handle customer communications across calls, SMS, and email. You'll own end-to-end agent infrastructure—from prompt engineering and tool integrations to observability and reliability—while partnering with product to drive measurable customer impact.
What you'll do
- Design and own systems powering Voice AI and Text AI agents handling calls, SMS, and email across all customer touchpoints
- Develop system-level prompts and evaluate agent behavior, reliability, and outcomes in production
- Build tool-calling integrations enabling agents to book appointments, query data, and transfer to humans safely
- Create LLM-as-a-judge evaluations and AI observability dashboards to measure performance and catch regressions
- Partner with product and design to balance user needs, business goals, and technical trade-offs
- Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence and learning
What they're looking for
- LLM production experience (prompt engineering, tool/function calling, evaluation frameworks, agent orchestration)
- Backend development in Elixir, Go, Python, or comparable server-side language
- Full-stack capability across data models, LLM/agent logic, APIs, and UI
- Project leadership from specification through multi-contributor launch
- Strong ownership, bias for action, and ability to unblock across team boundaries
- Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Familiarity with modern engineering practices (code review, testing, CI/CD, feature flags, A/B testing)
- Continuous learning mindset for evolving AI capabilities and tools
Benefits
- Fully remote work across the US
- Comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage from day one
- Mental health support via Modern Health
- 15 days PTO plus 12 paid holidays and one floating holiday
- Up to 14 weeks parental leave, 401(k), employee stock purchase plan, and professional development reimbursement
