About this role

Hunter Douglas seeks an Automation Projects Engineer to design and implement automated manufacturing systems across North American plants. You'll lead automation projects from concept through startup, managing PLC programming, robotics, vision systems, and industrial controls while collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize production efficiency and safety.

What you'll do

  • Design, program, and deploy PLCs, HMIs, robotics, vision systems, and industrial networks for new manufacturing equipment and production lines
  • Manage multiple automation projects concurrently, ensuring delivery against cost, schedule, and performance targets
  • Define project scope, technical specifications, budgets, timelines, and resource requirements
  • Drive vendor selection, coordinate design reviews, FATs, SATs, installation, and system startup activities
  • Support machine connectivity and data integration with MES and IT platforms
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance cycle time, OEE, and cost efficiency
