About this role

Hunter Douglas seeks an Automation Projects Engineer to design, develop, and implement automated manufacturing systems across North American plants. You'll lead PLC and robotics projects from concept through startup, managing timelines, budgets, and cross-functional coordination while driving continuous improvement in production efficiency.

What you'll do

  • Design, program, and deploy PLCs, HMIs, robotics, vision systems, and industrial control networks
  • Define project scope, technical specifications, budgets, and resource plans for automation initiatives
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently while meeting cost, schedule, and performance targets
  • Coordinate vendor selection, design reviews, factory acceptance tests (FATs), and system startup activities
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, IT, quality, and maintenance teams
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance cycle time and overall equipment effectiveness
