About this role
Hunter Douglas seeks a Product Engineer I to design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for window covering products. You'll drive innovation from concept through production, collaborating across teams while optimizing for performance, manufacturability, and cost.
What you'll do
- Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks CAD software
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for product quality and reliability issues
- Perform design reviews, tolerance stack-up analyses, DFMEA assessments, and design verification testing
- Prototype and validate designs using rapid prototyping techniques including 3D printing
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Management, Manufacturing, and Operations on product development
- Identify and execute cost reduction opportunities through design and material optimization

- Mechanical engineering principles (statics, dynamics, mechanisms, component design)
- Plastic injection molding and engineered plastics design
- Design validation methodologies (DFMEA, tolerance analysis, statistical analysis)
- Root cause analysis and problem-solving
- Metrology equipment operation (calipers, gauges, vision systems)
- Project management and cross-functional communication
- Manufacturing process knowledge (extrusion-based product design)
