Field Service Engineer - Rotary UPS
About this role
IEM seeks a Senior Field Service Engineer to lead the startup, commissioning, and maintenance of rotary UPS (RUPS) power systems across North America. This specialized role requires expertise in mechanical systems, generators, and flywheels rather than traditional static UPS experience, combining hands-on field work with technical troubleshooting and team leadership.
What you'll do
- Lead on-site startup, commissioning, and preventative maintenance of RUPS systems with generator and flywheel integration
- Perform functional testing, load bank testing, and system validation to ensure performance specifications are met
- Troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical issues with generators, flywheels, switchgear, control systems, and fuel systems
- Document commissioning activities, test reports, and customer records with accuracy and timeliness
- Train junior field service technicians on startup procedures, troubleshooting, maintenance, and safe equipment operation
- Coordinate with third-party vendors and customers to resolve equipment issues within integrated RUPS systems
