Intrinsic

Backend Software Engineer (Robotics Systems)

Mountain View, CaliforniamidAdded 2 days ago

About this role

Join Google's Intrinsic AI robotics group to build the backend systems that connect web-based software interfaces to industrial robot hardware on manufacturing floors. You'll architect secure, resilient systems ensuring operators can reliably control physical automation with low-latency feedback and complete audit trails, even during network disruptions.

What you'll do

  • Design and implement secure authentication and granular access control systems for hardware command authorization
  • Develop control logic bridging web interfaces to physical hardware components like status lights and emergency stops
  • Build resilient data systems that cache robot telemetry locally and synchronize with cloud when connectivity is restored
  • Create reliable, low-latency communication pathways between web browsers and hardware controllers
  • Architect multi-tenant backend infrastructure with strict data isolation between customers
  • Generate detailed audit logs linking every hardware action to authenticated users for safety and forensic review

What they're looking for

  • User permissions and access control design in multi-user environments
  • Hardware interfacing through digital inputs/outputs (IoT, sensors, signals)
  • Fullstack development (Python/C++ backend, TypeScript frontend)
  • Network communication protocols
  • Industrial communication standards
  • Distributed systems and conflict resolution
  • Real-time operating systems or high-performance messaging
  • Modern deployment tools (Bazel, containerization)
