About this role

LangChain is seeking a Platform Software Engineer to own the ingestion, query, and API systems that power LangSmith, their observability platform used by thousands of development teams and 35% of Fortune 500 companies. You'll design high-throughput data systems, set SDK/CLI standards across multiple languages, and operate mission-critical infrastructure at scale.

What you'll do

  • Design and operate high-throughput ingestion and trace-query systems built on SmithDB with monitoring and automated recovery
  • Define and enforce API, SDK, and CLI standards for Python, TypeScript, Go, and Java across feature teams
  • Build and maintain integrations to support any AI framework, agent, or tool seamlessly
  • Debug performance bottlenecks, optimize database queries, and architect distributed-system solutions
  • Participate in on-call rotation with focus on incident learning and prevention
  • Own end-to-end quality of developer-facing surfaces across the platform
