About this role
Lila Sciences seeks a Controls Engineer II to maintain and optimize automated lab equipment, including PLCs, SCADA, and robotics systems. You'll troubleshoot complex multi-disciplinary issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive reliability improvements across deployed automation infrastructure in a fast-paced scientific research environment.
What you'll do
- Maintain and troubleshoot deployed PLC, SCADA, and robotics control systems across lab automation
- Investigate multi-disciplinary incidents and perform root cause analysis to reduce recurring faults
- Integrate third-party equipment and vendor software with existing controls infrastructure
- Sustain safety-critical PLC systems for equipment, robotics, and workflow automation
- Plan and execute preventive maintenance, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management activities
- Document and maintain engineering artifacts including P&IDs, schematics, and system specifications

- PLC, HMI, and SCADA system maintenance and troubleshooting
- OT networking (routing, security, VPN, industrial protocols)
- Git or equivalent version control for engineering work
- AutoCAD or SolidWorks Electrical for documentation
- Robotics integration and automation programming (structured text preferred)
- Hardware, software, and networking troubleshooting
- Ignition SCADA platform experience (bonus)
- Reliability engineering methods (FMEA, CAPA, RCM)
