About this role

Lumos seeks a NOC Engineer I to monitor and coordinate outage resolution across its fiber-optic broadband network, working 3rd shift (11 pm–7 am) to support IP, Transport, and Voice platforms. You'll isolate network faults, perform root cause analysis, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to restore service and maintain network reliability.

What you'll do

  • Coordinate network outages with Voice, Video, IP, Transport, OSP, and Local Operations teams
  • Perform event notifications to internal teams, leadership, and external customers
  • Create and escalate third-party tickets for offnet outage resolution
  • Troubleshoot outage isolation and identify chronic network issues
  • Diagnose escalated performance problems and support root cause analysis
  • Work customer and network trouble tickets to restore service and resolve faults

  • Ethernet and TCP/IP networking fundamentals
  • FTTH, GPON, and XGS-PON technologies
  • Routing protocols (EIGRP, BGP, OSPF) and MPLS
  • Cisco, Ciena, and Nokia platform experience
  • TDM, SONET, CWDM, DWDM, and OTN technologies
  • TL1 or CLI-based provisioning
  • Root cause analysis and troubleshooting
  • Written and verbal communication
