About this role

Lumos seeks a NOC Engineer I to manage outages across fiber optic broadband networks, monitoring health, coordinating resolution with multiple teams, and performing root cause analysis. This full-time remote role operates on a 2nd shift schedule (3 PM–11 PM) and requires strong networking expertise across IP, Transport, and Voice platforms.

What you'll do

  • Coordinate network outages with Voice, Video, IP, Transport, OSP, and Local Operations teams for rapid resolution
  • Monitor network health, troubleshoot access and core engineering environments, and isolate performance issues
  • Create third-party tickets for offnet outages and escalate issues to appropriate teams
  • Provide event notifications to internal teams, leadership, and external customers during incidents
  • Support root cause analysis, develop action plans, and identify chronic network problems
  • Work customer and network trouble tickets to restore service and resolve faults

  • Ethernet and TCP/IP networking with FTTH and GPON technology knowledge
  • MPLS, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and multi-protocol routing support
  • Cisco, Ciena, and Nokia routing platform experience
  • TDM, SONET, CWDM, DWDM, OTN, and ROADM technologies
  • TL1 and CLI-based provisioning and digital cross-connect systems
  • Network troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical problem-solving with attention to detail
