Power Electronics Engineer
About this role
Lunar Energy seeks an experienced Power Electronics Engineer to design and develop clean energy products for residential electrification. You'll own power conversion systems across multiple power ranges, from circuit topology selection through manufacturing, collaborating across mechanical, thermal, and firmware teams.
What you'll do
- Design power electronic systems (10W–10kW) including DC/DC converters, isolated supplies, and inverters with topology selection and semiconductor specification
- Perform magnetics design, schematic capture, PCB layout, and EMC optimization for power conversion circuits
- Create verification and validation test plans for components and complete systems
- Build and test prototypes to validate functionality, optimize performance, and characterize critical parameters
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with mechanical, thermal, reliability, and firmware teams
- Manage end-to-end ownership from specifications through design, prototype, validation, and manufacturing

- Power electronics design and converter topologies (two-level, multilevel, soft-switching)
- Wide bandgap semiconductor devices and high-efficiency power converter design
- Magnetics design, core materials, winding optimization, and insulation strategies
- EMC design theory, PCB layout for power systems, and filter design
- Schematic design and PCB layout review for power conversion
- Lab instrumentation (oscilloscopes, impedance analyzers, high-voltage/current sources and loads)
- Sensor design for real-time parameter measurement in noisy environments
- Power converter simulation and modeling tools
