About this role
MatX is hiring Rust engineers to build infrastructure, tooling, and simulation systems for high-performance AI accelerator hardware. You'll develop Rust-based simulators, host-side libraries, and comprehensive testing frameworks while collaborating across hardware and software teams.
What you'll do
- Design and implement Rust-based hardware simulator
- Build host-side interface libraries for hardware interaction
- Develop infrastructure and tooling for hardware and software teams
- Write systematic tests covering corner cases and rare event sequences using both targeted and randomized approaches
- Collaborate with hardware, architecture, and software teams to translate specifications into testable properties
- Contribute to verification and testing infrastructure for AI accelerators

- Production Rust (ownership, traits, generics, error handling)
- Low-level systems programming (memory layout, concurrency, bit manipulation)
- Software testing and test infrastructure design
- Build systems and CI/CD workflows
- Hardware knowledge or willingness to learn quickly
- Formal methods or property-based testing (bonus)
- Computer architecture understanding (bonus)
- FFI and language interoperability (bonus)
