About this role

Muon Space seeks a Camera Test Engineer II to develop and execute test campaigns for next-generation infrared remote sensing instruments. You'll bridge camera system design and flight hardware verification, automating test procedures and characterizing VSWIR and cooled IR cameras for space qualification.

What you'll do

  • Translate camera requirements into detailed test procedures and develop Python-based automation scripts for instrument control and data logging
  • Conduct electro-optical performance testing on VSWIR and IR cameras, measuring dark current, quantum efficiency, NEDT, NUC, and spectral throughput
  • Design and maintain electrical and optical ground support equipment (EGSE/OGSE) including blackbodies and integrating spheres
  • Lead camera testing across environmental campaigns including thermal vacuum, radiation, and vibration stress screening
  • Perform rigorous data post-processing, anomaly identification, and root-cause analysis for camera failures
  • Collaborate with Camera Systems and Optical Test Engineers on comprehensive camera subsystem verification

What they're looking for

  • Python programming for hardware interfacing and scientific data analysis (NumPy, SciPy)
  • Electro-optical performance testing and metrology
  • Infrared remote sensing instrument experience
  • Statistical data analysis and test report generation
  • Precision electrical and optical measurement techniques
  • Ground support equipment design and integration
  • CAD design (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Thermal chamber and cleanroom experience
