About this role
New Relic seeks a Software Engineer to design and operate scalable, resilient load balancing and service mesh infrastructure that powers the observability platform. You'll work with Go or Python, AWS, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code tools to support global ingress data planes and enable cross-team innovation.
What you'll do
- Design and operate scalable ingress data plane infrastructure supporting service mesh and load balancing
- Build automation and infrastructure-as-code solutions to accelerate deployment safety and speed
- Evolve DNS and CDN infrastructure for high-performance global environments
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and platform teams to align infrastructure with business needs
- Maintain stability and performance of load balancing solutions across multi-cloud deployments
- Ensure observability and reliability of infrastructure systems at scale

- Go or Python programming (3+ years)
- AWS cloud infrastructure (3+ years)
- CI/CD pipelines and tooling (GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
- Kubernetes and container orchestration
- Terraform or infrastructure-as-code tools
- Networking fundamentals (DNS, HTTP, TCP)
- Envoy or service mesh platforms (nice-to-have)
- Observability tools like Prometheus or OpenTelemetry (nice-to-have)
