About this role

Join Observable Space as a Junior Embedded Software Engineer working on cutting-edge space technology systems. You'll develop embedded Linux and firmware for precision optics platforms used by NASA, SpaceX, and the DoD, with hands-on mentorship from senior engineers and exposure to hardware integration, debugging, and testing.

What you'll do

  • Develop, test, and debug embedded Linux systems and low-level firmware including daemons, drivers, and bootloaders
  • Design and maintain device drivers for PCIe, SPI, I2C, UART, MIPI CSI-2, and GPIO interfaces
  • Bring up hardware peripherals like cameras and sensors, including soldering, prototyping, and initial power-on validation
  • Set up and execute component test characterization campaigns and analyze test data
  • Support longevity testing initiatives to identify potential failure modes
  • Participate in design and code reviews to develop product reliability expertise
