Backend Engineer III - Hunt
About this role
onX is looking for a Backend Engineer III to design and scale hunt-focused backend services and data infrastructure for their outdoor exploration platform. You'll own the data layer, collaborate across teams, contribute to architectural decisions, and participate in on-call rotations while working from distributed locations across the US.
What you'll do
- Design, build, and scale well-tested backend services and data models for onX apps
- Own the data layer responsible for capturing, storing, and serving data for new features
- Partner with engineers and product managers to integrate data and services across teams
- Contribute to architectural decisions and write comprehensive unit, integration, and acceptance tests
- Provide code reviews and backend coverage to ensure team quality and shipping velocity
- Participate in on-call rotation to maintain backend service reliability and availability
