About this role
OpenAI seeks an AI Deployment Engineer to partner with early and growth-stage startups, guiding them from ideation through scaling on the OpenAI API platform. You'll serve as a technical thought partner, prototype solutions, and gather product feedback while collaborating across sales, research, and product teams in NYC.
What you'll do
- Act as technical advisor to startup customers, helping them move AI applications from concept to production
- Prototype and experiment alongside customers to demonstrate practical use cases and best practices
- Provide strategic guidance to maximize business impact and accelerate development timelines
- Synthesize customer feedback and deliver insights to internal Product and Research teams
- Create and share open-source resources, documentation, and codified best practices
- Build relationships within the startup ecosystem and serve as trusted technical partner

- Python and JavaScript proficiency
- 5+ years software or ML engineering experience
- AI/LLM best practices and knowledge
- OpenAI API platform experience
- Prototyping and rapid iteration
