About this role
OpenAI seeks an Android Engineer to design and build native ad experiences across their monetization ecosystem. You'll own the client-side infrastructure for rendering diverse ad formats—from text and video to interactive ads—while ensuring privacy, performance, and reliability at global scale within ChatGPT and related platforms.
What you'll do
- Build and ship ad format experiences on Android including text, image, video, native, conversational, and interactive surfaces
- Design shared Android frameworks and primitives for ad rendering, creative presentation, and media handling
- Own complex Android systems end-to-end including UI architecture, networking, persistence, and performance optimization
- Establish testing and quality systems including unit, integration, UI, and automated regression workflows
- Collaborate with Product, Design, Research, and Safety teams to ensure ads meet safety and privacy standards
- Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews and mentoring
