Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) - NYC

About this role

Lead end-to-end deployments of OpenAI's frontier models with strategic customers in NYC, owning technical discovery through production rollout. Partner with customer teams to build full-stack systems that deliver measurable impact while feeding product and research feedback.

What you'll do

• Own technical delivery across multiple deployments from prototype to stable production
• Build full-stack systems that deliver customer value and enable learning
• Embed with customer teams to understand needs and guide adoption
• Scope work, sequence delivery, and remove blockers early
• Share field feedback to inform Research and Product roadmaps
• Codify working patterns into reusable tools and playbooks

What they're looking for

• 5+ years of engineering or technical deployment experience
• Production-grade code in Python, JavaScript, or comparable stacks
• Complex system scoping and delivery in ambiguous environments
• LLM or generative model systems experience
• Full-stack development (frontend and backend)
• Customer communication and stakeholder management
• Risk identification and decision-making under pressure
• Cross-functional collaboration
