Fullstack Engineer, Safety Engineering
About this role
OpenAI is seeking a fullstack engineer to build internal tools that enhance model safety across sensitive areas like mental health. You'll work closely with researchers and policy teams to develop end-to-end solutions that improve safety workflows, increase team velocity, and eventually evolve into external-facing safety products.
What you'll do
- Develop end-to-end internal tools focused on improving safety for vulnerable-user protections
- Partner with Safety Systems researchers and policy teams to understand workflows and translate requirements into product solutions
- Build full-stack experiences for data labeling, failure case analysis, and insight generation
- Optimize applications for usability, speed, and scalability to reduce time-to-fix for safety issues
- Transform successful internal safety workflows into external-facing products for developers
- Support model policy workflows and safety iteration cycles
