About this role

OpenAI is hiring a Staff/Principal-level offensive security expert to design and build AI agents that autonomously identify, validate, and coordinate remediation of vulnerabilities across infrastructure and applications. This technical leadership role combines deep security expertise with agent engineering to scale security testing beyond human capability.

What you'll do

  • Serve as technical owner establishing architecture, direction, and evaluation strategy for offensive security agent systems
  • Design and build specialized agents that continuously test infrastructure, cloud, Kubernetes, web applications, and external attack surfaces
  • Translate offensive security workflows and expertise into agent tools, skills, policies, and knowledge bases
  • Build end-to-end vulnerability management loops from discovery through validation, remediation, and fix verification
  • Design human-in-the-loop controls and feedback mechanisms to ensure safe autonomous operation and continuous agent improvement
  • Develop rigorous evaluations measuring security outcomes and agent capability improvements over time
