About this role

OpenAI's Industrial Compute team seeks a Project Engineer to coordinate multidisciplinary engineering execution across self-built AI data center construction programs. You'll serve as the technical integration point between engineering design, construction management, utilities, and permitting to deliver hyperscale infrastructure at aggressive timelines.

What you'll do

  • Coordinate civil, electrical, mechanical, utility, and construction discipline execution across project delivery
  • Develop integrated engineering execution plans supporting self-build campus delivery schedules
  • Lead engineering coordination for temporary and permanent power systems, water infrastructure, and site utilities
  • Manage stakeholder coordination with utility providers, permitting agencies, EPC partners, and construction contractors
  • Identify and resolve multidisciplinary design conflicts, track engineering changes, and manage technical dependencies
  • Support project budgeting, risk management, scheduling, and operational readiness activities
