San Francisco (Remote)$293k–$385kfulltimemidAdded today

About this role

OpenAI seeks an experienced Software Engineer to design and build integrity systems that detect and prevent fraudulent, harmful, and policy-violating ads at scale. This is a greenfield role building foundational risk detection, enforcement, and review infrastructure for a new monetization platform, requiring deep expertise in ads integrity, trust and safety, or related domains.

What you'll do

  • Design real-time and offline detection systems for harmful, deceptive, and fraudulent ads and advertiser behavior
  • Build scalable risk-signal pipelines, ML model-serving infrastructure, and enforcement workflows across the ads lifecycle
  • Develop advertiser verification, account-risk assessment, and abuse-prevention capabilities
  • Create review and investigation tools for operations and policy teams to make fast, consistent decisions
  • Design feedback loops, labeling systems, and integrity metrics to improve detection while managing false positives
  • Partner with Ads Delivery and ML teams to integrate integrity checks into retrieval, ranking, and serving systems

What they're looking for

  • Large-scale distributed systems design and operation
  • Ads integrity, trust and safety, anti-abuse, or fraud detection experience
  • Rules, heuristics, and machine-learning signal integration
  • Low-latency, high-throughput service and data pipeline development
  • Precision/recall optimization and adversarial system thinking
  • Cross-functional collaboration with policy, legal, security, and ML teams
  • System observability, auditability, and operational rigor
  • Technical strategy and roadmap definition in ambiguous environments
