Founding Design Engineer

About this role

Probook seeks a founding design engineer to establish the visual and interaction standards for an AI-powered dispatch platform serving the home services industry. You'll own UI/UX across web, mobile, and chrome extension while writing production frontend code and partnering directly with founders and customers to transform outdated industry software.

What you'll do

• Own end-to-end UI/UX quality across web, mobile, and chrome extension platforms
• Translate operator pain points into shipped product improvements through customer conversations
• Independently ship frontend code changes to production without handoffs
• Establish Probook's design language and visual standards from the ground up
• Partner with engineers and founders on product direction as a core decision-maker
• Conduct direct customer research in the field to understand workflows and anticipate UX problems

What they're looking for

• Product design (4–6 years experience, ideally at startups)
• Frontend development with independent production deployment capability
• AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent)
• B2B SaaS and enterprise/ops product design
• Rapid prototyping and iteration
• Design systems and interaction design
• Strong attention to detail and design craft
• Customer research and empathy
