About this role

Join Ramp's Payments and Banking team to design and build critical backend infrastructure that powers billions in financial transactions across traditional banking, international currencies, and crypto. You'll architect scalable, reliable systems that enable seamless money movement while maintaining strict correctness standards in a fast-paced fintech environment.

What you'll do

• Design and build large-scale backend systems for payments with strict correctness and reliability requirements
• Create clean, extensible abstractions for payments infrastructure to simplify integration across teams
• Develop systems supporting traditional banking rails and emerging cryptocurrency payment channels
• Integrate with diverse third-party banking and payments partners to accelerate feature delivery
• Own problems end-to-end from architecture and technical design to production reliability
• Apply meticulous attention to detail in financial systems where accuracy is critical

What they're looking for

• Backend or platform engineering (5+ years)
• Systems design and architecture
• Distributed systems and performance optimization
• Production reliability and monitoring
• Independent problem-solving in ambiguous environments
• Fintech/payments experience (preferred)
• Financial systems knowledge: ACH, ledgering, reconciliation
• Third-party API and banking integration experience
