About this role

Redwood Materials seeks a Cathode Design Engineer to develop next-generation cathode active materials and scale-up manufacturing processes for lithium-ion battery production. Based in McCarran, Nevada, you'll lead process development from lab to pilot plant, combining materials science with engineering expertise to drive sustainable battery material production.

What you'll do

  • Design and conduct experiments to optimize scale-up parameters, material performance, and production costs
  • Develop process technologies using mass/energy balances, flowsheet design, and simulation for cathode active material manufacturing
  • Partner with equipment suppliers across concept, design, procurement, installation, and testing phases
  • Define and lead technology projects aligned with business strategy and customer requirements
  • Generate intellectual property and collaborate with legal on patent filings
  • Provide technical guidance to commercial, business development, and senior leadership teams
